Systeme.io Free Plan Review 2026: Is It Enough for Affiliate Marketing?

Choose your next step before paying

Try the decision exercise

You are comparing Systeme.io with ClickFunnels and ConvertKit, and you need to know whether the free plan will carry a first affiliate site or just delay a bill. This page sets out what you can finish before paying anything, where the free limits actually bite, and the point at which the $17/month Startup plan becomes the cheaper choice.

This page is organised around one question: what can you get done before you pay anything, and what will force a paid plan? Start with the verdict, then the exact limits, then the checks to run before you enter card details.

  • What this review is built on: Systeme.io's own pricing page, terms and conditions, and help-centre articles on sender domains, all read on 22 October 2026.
  • What it is not: a first-person walkthrough. We did not open an account or send email, so treat this as a documented plan comparison rather than a dashboard tour.
  • How to check it yourself: every price and limit below is quoted from the vendor; confirm each one on Systeme.io's site before you enter card details.
  • Free Plan3 funnels, 2,000 contacts
  • Startup$17/month, 5,000 contacts (checked 22 October 2026)
  • 0% FeesTransaction fees listed on every plan (checked 22 October 2026)
  • Free Includes1 course, 1 custom domain

Choose a free start or a justified upgrade

Decide from the funnel you need to run and the limit you have actually reached. A paid account is useful only when its capacity or features solve that requirement.

You are building your first funnel

The published free plan includes up to 2,000 contacts, three funnels and one course, with no credit card required. Check the other limits against your workflow before signing up.

You have reached a specific limit

Count contacts, funnels, courses, domains and automation rules. Use the plan finder to shortlist a tier, then verify the full charge and current limits on the provider’s page.

Find the smallest suitable plan

You are considering a switch

Test the required forms, messages, exports and integrations before cancelling the current service. Keep it if a required workflow fails or the switch costs more than it saves.

Check reasons to choose another setup
Compare the cost over the time you will use it

Systeme.io’s pricing page lists Startup at $17 per month, checked November 1, 2026. Three monthly payments total $51; twelve total $204, before tax and outside services. This is monthly billing, not an annual-prepayment quote.

Fictional switching example: keeping another service at $25/month costs $75 for three months. Moving to a suitable $17/month plan plus $60 of one-time migration work costs $111, so staying is $36 less over that period. Over twelve months the same comparison is $300 versus $264, making the switch $36 less. Those alternative-service and migration costs are invented; test with your own quote and required features.

Check the billing date, cancellation route, domain and outside-service costs, and how a downgrade affects anything above the free limits. Review the published plan comparison before paying.

Test one complete funnel before choosing a paid plan

Use the same small job from beginning to end: one opt-in page, one confirmation page and one useful welcome message. This is a task checklist for your account, not a claim that we tested your setup.

  1. Write the offer first. Explain who the resource helps, what they receive and which follow-up emails you intend to send.
  2. Check the account requirements. Read the sender/domain rules below and note any required domain or outside-service cost.
  3. Build and inspect the pages. Check the phone layout, the form labels and the confirmation instructions.
  4. Run a controlled journey. Use an inbox you control, check the expected message and resource, and verify the unsubscribe route. Do not add someone else’s address as test traffic.
  5. Record the first actual blocker. Name the missing feature or capacity. Use the plan requirements checker before buying a larger tier.
Worked example: missing setup is not a plan limit

Fictional example. A publisher has a page and a resource, but the sender domain is not ready. Buying more contact capacity does not establish that the email setup works. The next task is to finish the sender setup and repeat the controlled journey; only a confirmed capacity or feature limit justifies a plan comparison.

Skip a paid upgrade for now if you cannot name the limit stopping this journey. Keep the copy and resource in a plain document while you resolve setup. Use the same-job comparison if you are evaluating another platform.

Check the current plan details on Systeme.io’s official pricing page. Existing dated prices below remain dated; this checklist does not add a new price or guarantee delivery.

Our Verdict: Is the Free Plan Enough?

For most beginners building a first affiliate site, the free plan is enough to launch one funnel and start a list. It is not a bait-and-switch: it never expires, asks for no card, and gives 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 automation rule, 1 email campaign, 1 custom domain, unlimited email sends and unlimited sub-accounts. What turns Free into a paid plan is a named ceiling, not a timer: more than 2,000 contacts, more than 3 funnels, a second automation rule, a second email campaign, a second custom domain, or USD 10,000 in lifetime sales through your own checkout. Affiliate commissions are not counted toward that cap. When you need more room, Startup is $17/month for 5,000 contacts, 10 funnels, 10 automation rules and 3 domains (both plans checked 22 October 2026).

Your situationIs Free enough? What to do

You need more than 3 funnels, 2,000 contacts, 1 automation rule, 1 email campaign, or 1 custom domainNoStartup, $17/month (checked 22 October 2026)

You expect more than 10,000 contacts or no ceilingsNoUnlimited, $97/month (checked 22 October 2026)

The real question is not which plan is better on paper, it is which one stops you stalling. Free lets you find out whether you enjoy the work: one funnel, one welcome email, your first hundred subscribers. Pay only when a specific limit, not a nagging feeling, is in your way.

Best Overall

Why the Free Plan Works for a First Affiliate Site

The appeal is not a long feature list, it is that a first affiliate site is a small project: one landing page, one lead magnet, one welcome email. Free matches that shape with no card on file and no trial clock, so you can take a few weeks to learn what your audience clicks. The part beginners underestimate is email setup. You need a domain you own and an authenticated sender before your welcome email reliably reaches an inbox, and Systeme.io's own help centre now blocks Gmail sender addresses (since 16 July 2024) and notes that Yahoo addresses fail DMARC. That makes domain setup a week-one job, not a week-six one.

  1. Days 1 to 3: set up the account and your domain. Free asks for no card and does not expire. Add a domain you own and authenticate it first; Gmail sender addresses have been prohibited since 16 July 2024 and Yahoo addresses fail DMARC. Some Microsoft free domains are technically allowed but strongly discouraged.
  2. Days 4 to 10: build one funnel. One opt-in page, one thank-you page, one lead magnet. Free gives you 3 funnels and 15 funnel steps.
  3. Days 11 to 17: write one automation rule and one email campaign. That is the whole allowance on Free, so keep it to a single welcome message.
  4. Days 18 to 30: publish and watch two counters. 2,000 contacts and 3 funnels are the limits that force a paid plan; Startup at $17/month (checked 22 October 2026) raises them to 5,000 and 10.
  • Free plan: 3 funnels with 15 steps, 1 website, 1 blog, 1 email campaign and 1 automation rule (checked 22 October 2026)
  • 0% transaction fees on every plan, including Free
  • Startup at $17/month raises you to 5,000 contacts, 10 funnels, 10 automation rules and 3 custom domains (checked 22 October 2026)
  • Built-in affiliate program management is included on every plan
  • Unlimited sub-accounts on every plan, so you can keep projects separate

What You Get on the Free Plan

The free plan includes the core tools. Some limits are tight, while others, such as email sends and sub-accounts, are unlimited. Here is what matters most for a beginner affiliate marketer.

  • Sales Funnels

Build funnels with drag-and-drop. The free plan includes 3 funnels and 15 funnel steps; Startup gives 10 funnels and 50 steps.

  • Email Marketing

Send unlimited emails on every plan. Free includes 1 email campaign and 1 automation rule, so start with one simple welcome sequence.

  • Website Builder

Create websites and landing pages. Free includes 1 website and 1 blog; Startup gives 5 websites and 5 blogs.

  • Online Courses

Host and sell courses with built-in member areas. Free includes 1 course and up to 500 students; Startup gives 5 courses.

  • Automation

Automate your marketing. Free has 1 automation rule and 1 workflow; the Webinar plan at $47/month adds 100 automation rules and 10 evergreen webinars.

  • Ecommerce

Sell digital and physical products with checkout. Systeme.io lists 0% transaction fees on every plan (checked 22 October 2026). Its pricing page says you can accept payments using Stripe or PayPal at no extra Systeme.io cost; check each processor’s own terms before you sell.

Pros of Systeme.io

  • No credit card needed and no expiry, so you can start this week and stay on Free as long as the limits hold (checked 22 October 2026).
  • Unlimited email sends on every plan, including Free.
  • 0% transaction fees on every plan, as listed by Systeme.io (checked 22 October 2026).
  • Startup at $17/month (checked 22 October 2026) is a small step up from Free and still far below the $97 Unlimited plan.
  • Built-in affiliate program management is included on every plan.
  • Unlimited sub-accounts on every plan, so you can separate projects without a second bill.

Cons of Systeme.io

  • Free plan has only 1 automation rule, 1 workflow and 1 email campaign, so complex follow-up sequences need Startup or higher.
  • Free plan lifetime sales are capped at USD 10,000 through your own checkout; affiliate commissions are not included in the cap.
  • No evergreen webinars on Free or Startup; the Webinar plan at $47/month is the first plan that includes them.
  • Sending email from a Gmail address is prohibited, and Yahoo addresses fail DMARC, so you need an authenticated domain before emailing a list.
  • Subscription plans are not refundable, so check the limits before you pay.

What a beginner can build on the free plan

  • An opt-in page and a thank-you page, as one of your 3 sales funnels.
  • An email that delivers your freebie, sent by your 1 automation rule.
  • A list of up to 2,000 contacts.
  • Your own domain (1 custom domain).
  • One course, if you want to teach something.

Systeme.io lists 0% transaction fees on every plan; payment processors charge their own. Limits from its pricing page on October 10, 2026. See when to upgrade.

Systeme.io Pricing

Systeme.io has a free plan and three paid plans: Startup, Webinar and Unlimited. Prices and limits below are from the official Systeme.io pricing page, checked 22 October 2026 (US dollars). Annual billing is listed with 2 months free. The main upgrade trigger is not the price alone: it is contacts, funnels, automation rules and custom domains. See every limit in our Systeme.io pricing guide.

    • Your sending domain. Use an address on a domain you own and authenticate it first. Gmail addresses have been prohibited since 16 July 2024 and Yahoo addresses fail DMARC. Some Microsoft free domains are technically allowed but strongly discouraged, so a free mailbox is a poor choice for a list.
    • The free-plan sales cap. Free accounts are limited to USD 10,000 in lifetime sales through your own checkout; affiliate commissions are not counted. You get a notification, then 3 days to upgrade, then payment pages stop accepting new sales. Your account is not upgraded or charged automatically.
    • Refunds and overflow. Subscription plans are not refundable, so check the limits before paying. If a paid plan goes over its limits you get 3 days to trim usage, after which the account is automatically upgraded and billed.
    • Monthly or annual. Annual billing is listed with 2 months free, but monthly is the safer start while you are still deciding whether you need the plan at all.

Who the Free Plan Fits

  • A beginner affiliate marketer who needs one funnel, one opt-in page and a small list without paying yet.
  • A course creator testing a first course: Free includes 1 course and up to 500 students.
  • A small business owner who wants a website, blog, email list and checkout in one account.
  • Someone who wants to try the tools before paying: Free needs no credit card and never expires.
  • An affiliate marketer whose commissions stay outside the free plan's USD 10,000 lifetime sales cap.

Who Should Skip the Free Plan

  • You need more than 1 automation rule or 1 email campaign from day one; Startup at $17/month gives 10 automation rules.
  • You need evergreen webinars; Free and Startup include 0, so you need the Webinar plan at $47/month.
  • You expect to pass 2,000 contacts or 3 funnels quickly; Startup is the next step.
  • You sell your own products and expect to pass USD 10,000 in lifetime sales. Your payment pages stop accepting new sales after a 3-day warning, so plan the upgrade before you get there.

Ready to Start on the Free Plan?

Start on the free plan if your next step is one funnel and your first hundred subscribers. Move to Startup at $17/month (checked 22 October 2026) when you can name the limit that blocked you: contact 2,001, a fourth funnel, or a second automation rule you genuinely need. The Webinar plan at $47/month earns its place only if you plan to run evergreen webinars, and Unlimited at $97/month only when contacts and funnels truly have no ceiling. Before any upgrade, check the current limits in our Systeme.io pricing guide, because features and prices change.
