Honest Affiliate Comparison Workbook: Compare Two Products Without a Fake “Best” Pick

You have read “honest” reviews that crown whichever product pays the biggest commission. Your first comparison post does not have to be one of them. The free Honest Affiliate Comparison Workbook is for beginners writing their first affiliate website. It turns two product options into one evidence-backed draft: a clear reader question, a dated comparison table and a recommendation that says who each option suits, including when neither fits. The same checks help you spot a review that names a winner without evidence.

  • One reader, one job and one must-have, written down first
  • Six dated facts from official pages, two products times three criteria
  • Three writing templates and a seven-point readiness check
  • A 6-page PDF workbook plus its 1-page check sheet to print

Choosing between two tools right now? Try the method on a real pair first

Say your must-have is “an email list and a sales page, with $0 to spend this month”. Two dated facts from our Starter Kit’s tool budget (checked on the vendors’ pages on 23 October 2026) settle it before any feature list does:

Two dated facts, one constraint
CriterionSysteme.ioClickFunnels
Free planYes: up to 2,000 contacts, no credit card neededNo free plan; a 14-day free trial
Paid entry planStartup, $17 a monthLaunch, $97 a month ($81 billed yearly)

The conditional answer: with $0 this month, only Systeme.io’s free plan meets the must-have. ClickFunnels becomes a candidate only once that budget changes, and then the next criteria decide. Prices change, so check both vendors’ pages before you buy. Our ClickFunnels vs Systeme.io comparison goes further; it contains affiliate links, and says so.

Who it is for, and how we make money

  • For you if your first page, or your next one, will compare two products, for example two email tools or two hosts you are thinking of recommending.
  • Still picking tools for your own site? Use the method on that choice first, as in the example above, and keep the free Tools Checklist beside it. No niche yet? The free Affiliate Business Starter Kit comes first.

Wealth Generation Academy wrote it. Our pages are drafted with AI assistance, then checked against our editorial policy and the sources they cite; the workbook itself cites Google Search Central on writing high-quality reviews and the FTC’s Disclosures 101. We earn affiliate commissions on some tools we review, and we sell one product of our own, the $37 Launch Blueprint, which the last page of the workbook mentions as optional. The workbook recommends no product and is complete on its own.

Do this first: one sentence before any research

The workbook opens with one sentence to write and keep beside your draft:

My reader needs to do ___, is choosing between ___ and ___, and cannot compromise on ___.

If you cannot name the job, the workbook says to pause the comparison and choose a narrower question. That is a useful result: you find the gap before you spend an evening researching features that do not matter to your reader.

How to write an affiliate comparison post: five steps, six pages

Pages 1, 3, 4 and 5 each end with a link to the guide on our site that goes deeper. Use seven work sessions, however long you need.

2. Collect evidence3Six dated facts across two products
3. Explain the choice4A table and a conditional recommendation
4. Assemble the draft5Three completed writing templates
5. Check and improve6A reviewed draft and one next action

The second file is the Comparison Readiness Checklist: workbook page 2 on its own, to print once for each comparison. You finish when all seven checks pass and every factual cell has a source. That is a writing milestone; the workbook does not promise traffic, sales or income.

How the method works: a fictional example from page 4

A solo tutor needs a planning tool with CSV export, a monthly payment option and a ceiling of $15 per month. The products and prices are made up, to show the reasoning.

Cedar Planner costs $12 monthly. Harbor Planner costs $96 yearly, paid upfront, which works out at $8 a month but has no monthly payment option. Both include CSV export, so both meet the must-have. The conditional answer: Cedar meets the tutor’s constraint at $12; Harbor is a candidate only if the reader can commit $96 upfront; and neither fits a reader who needs a feature that both lack.

That is the habit the workbook builds: read the constraint first, explain each row, write a conditional answer, then ask someone to read it back and name the fit and the trade-off.

How it differs from the Starter Kit

The Starter Kit covers your first decisions: model, niche, program terms, a first-month budget and a one-page brief for your first page. This workbook covers one job in depth: writing a comparison of two products honestly, with a source for every fact.

Questions about the workbook

Is the Honest Affiliate Comparison Workbook really free?

Yes. It costs nothing and no card is asked for. Enter your first name and email address, reply VERIFY to our first email, and we email you the link to both files.

How do I know this isn't just another affiliate shill?

The workbook recommends no product and asks for a dated official source for every fact it puts in your table. We do earn affiliate commissions on some tools we review on this site, and our pages say so. We also sell one product of our own, the $37 Launch Blueprint; the workbook's last page mentions it as optional, and the workbook is complete without it.

Do I need a website first?

No. The workbook says to work in a document; a live website is optional. You need two comparable products, their official pages and a document.

Do I need to have used both products?

No. The workbook asks you to label every claim as documented, personally checked or unknown, to say what you actually read or tried, and to remove claims your evidence cannot support. It never asks you to invent experience.

Can I put affiliate links in the comparison?

Only after you check the program's permissions and add a clear commission disclosure near the recommendation and before the first commission link. Page 5 gives a starting line and points to the FTC's Disclosures 101 guide. You can also publish the comparison without affiliate links.

How is it different from the Affiliate Business Starter Kit?

The Starter Kit is for your first decisions: model, niche, programs, a first-month budget and a first page brief. This workbook is for one job after that: writing an honest comparison of two products. Start with the Starter Kit if you have not picked a niche yet.

What format are the files?

Two PDFs: the 6-page workbook and the 1-page Comparison Readiness Checklist, which is the same as workbook page 2 on its own. Print them, or keep them open beside your draft and write your answers in your document.

How do I get access to the workbook?

Enter your first name and email address in the form on this page. We send you a short email first, from Wealth Generation Academy (wga@mail.thesmartlearningpath.com), with the subject “Reply VERIFY to get your Honest Affiliate Comparison Workbook”. Reply to that email from the same address with the word VERIFY, and we email you a link to your download page with both PDFs (the workbook and the check sheet) as soon as your reply arrives. Then come three short emails over the next 9 days on using it (one describes our own $37 Blueprint), then at most one email a week, when we publish a new guide. The unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email stops all of them. Can’t find the first email? Check Spam, Junk and Promotions, or submit the form again with the right address.
