If your site shows impressions but no clicks
You set up Search Console, Google shows your pages, and the clicks column stays at zero. It is easy to read that as failure or to start buying an SEO suite. Before you do either, look at what the free report already tells you. This page shows exactly that, using our own site’s real numbers, warts and all: 1,852 impressions and 0 clicks in our first months. You will see the workflow we repeat, what the numbers meant for us, and the limits that tripped us up, so you can read your own report with the same eyes.
What we measured, and when
This is a first-party report: the numbers come from our own Google Search Console property for wealthgenerationacademy.com (a domain property), exported through the Search Console API on 2026-10-22. The dates 2026-07-22 to 2026-10-20 cover 91 days inclusive. Our earlier wording called this 90 days; the dates and archived numbers are unchanged. The request used web search and finalized data (the API defaults), without country, device, query or page filters. The newest requested day was 2026-10-20. The chart and tables retain that dated export, rather than claiming to show live totals.
In that window our pages appeared 1,852 times in Google results and earned 0 clicks. The first impression was on 2026-09-01, and 1,849 of the impressions came in October, after the site moved to its current setup. The impression-weighted average position was 68.8. This is an aggregate across searches, devices and result layouts; it does not translate into a results-page number. CTR was 0.0% (0 clicks divided by 1,852 impressions).
The workflow we use (you can repeat it)
- Add a domain property in Search Console and verify it, so every subdomain and protocol is covered by one property.
- Wait for data. A new site can show nothing for weeks; ours showed its first impression on 2026-09-01.
- Open Performance, Search results and set the date range to the last 3 months. Turn on impressions, clicks and average position.
- Read the Queries tab first. Sort by impressions: these are the searches Google already tests your pages on.
- Switch to the Pages tab and note which page each important query lands on.
- Write one action per page (see the last section) and re-check the same report in four weeks with the same date length.
We run the same export through the Search Console API so the numbers on our pages are copied, not retyped.
What it showed us about our own site

And the pages Google showed most:

Desktop accounted for 1,312 impressions, mobile for 509 and tablet for 31. Impressions came from 49 countries; 1,156 were from the United States.
Limitations we hit
- Query coverage. The returned query rows sum to 1,779 impressions, 73 below the 1,852 date-based total. Privacy filtering and API row limits can affect query coverage; that difference alone does not identify its cause. Page-grouped totals can also differ from property totals.
- Data lag. The newest day in our export was two days old, so a change made today cannot be judged in today’s report.
- Averages hide spread. An average position of 68.8 mixes many searches. Inspect the relevant query, page, country and device before deciding what to change.
- Zero observed clicks. CTR is 0.0%, not unavailable. This sample does not establish why readers did not click or which title would work better. Check intent and the page answer before a copy experiment.
What we are doing with it
Our two pages with the most impressions are the beginner guide and the affiliate-program guide. Both rank around position 70, so the next step is to make each one answer its top query more completely and link to it from the new lessons, then re-check a later window of the same length with the same filters. The archived window remains a reference; it cannot measure the effect of later edits. Any comparison needs the change date, page/query cohort and uncertainty recorded.
Search Console is free. If you want the step-by-step version, our lesson on keyword research for beginners uses it as the free starting tool, and our affiliate tracking tools guide explains how it fits with analytics and program dashboards.
Questions people ask about Search Console
Is Google Search Console free?
Yes. We pay nothing for it, and everything on this page came from the free tool and its API.
Why do I see impressions but no clicks?
This export records impressions and zero clicks. Average position was 69, but the aggregate alone does not establish why people did not click. An impression does not prove Google is testing a page. Check the query, intended task and page before choosing a change.
How long until Search Console shows data?
Our archived export first recorded an impression on 2026-09-01. Its newest requested day was two days before export. Availability varies; Search Console can also show recent preliminary data. Keep finalized and preliminary data separate.
Do I need a paid SEO tool as well?
Not to start. Search Console shows the searches you already appear for; a paid suite becomes useful when you repeat research or audits often enough to justify it, as our keyword research lesson explains.
Your next step
Open your own Search Console, set the last 3 months, and write down your top five queries with their pages. The Affiliate Marketing Tools Checklist (free with your first name and email) turns that into a tracked task with a “done when” check, and links each check to its lesson.
Test notes: export pulled 2026-10-22T00:14-07:00; property sc-domain:wealthgenerationacademy.com; dimensions date, query, page, device and country; 2026-07-22 through 2026-10-20 inclusive (91 days); web search, finalized data, no dimension filters. Date rows supply the historical totals. This report shows our own data only and promises nothing about your results. This page has no affiliate links: Search Console is a free Google tool and we earn nothing from it.
October 30 recheck: keep snapshots distinct
A new finalized web-search request for the same domain and July 22–October 20 dates returned 2,064 impressions, 0 clicks and average position 68.67. The October 22 saved date rows still sum to 1,852 impressions. This recheck does not explain the difference, so we retain and label both snapshots. It is not a before/after result or evidence that our edits caused a change.
For a current 90-day baseline, July 31–October 28 inclusive returned 4,279 impressions, 0 clicks, 0% CTR and average position 66.11. These are property totals with no country, device, query or page filters. Query-row totals need not reconcile with property totals.
Source definitions checked October 30, 2026: Google's impressions, position and CTR definitions and Search Analytics API dates, filters and finalized-data defaults.
